The holidays are over and now it’s time to begin thinking about filing your taxes. If you are ready to begin the process, Taxslayer.com is open.
No W-2, no problem. You can register and begin entering in key information at your own pace. In doing this, you will be one of the first in line to have your return processed once the IRS begins accepting returns.
Getting a jump start on filing is a good idea and you will be sure to meet the April 18th tax deadline. The IRS expects 153 million tax returns to be filed this year with about 80% of those being e-filed. Keeping that in mind, here is information on some recent changes and tips to help you through the filing process and to get ahead:
Make sure you know your AGI. When e-filing, you will need your prior year Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) to validate your return.
Expect delays if claiming EITC and ACTC. Persons claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) may experience a delay in their refund. The IRS will not release these refunds until February 15th.
Choose direct deposit. It’s the safest and fastest way to receive your refund.
Keep a copy of your tax return for your personal records.
Now that you are ready, sign-in to your account using your username from last year. Your previous year tax return information will be automatically added to your new return. If you are a new TaxSlayer customer – welcome! You can simply create an account and file with us by visiting our website. It’s free to begin the process with us.
As always, we keep it simple and easy to get your maximum refund.
