The 2016 TaxSlayer Bowl will be played on January 2nd, 2016 at EverBank Field in Jacksonville Florida.
The TaxSlayer Bowl tradition began in 1945 when a group of Jacksonville businessmen started the first concentrated drive at establishing a postseason college football game. The inaugural Bowl pitted Wake Forest against South Carolina on New Year’s Day in 1946 (Wake Forest won 26-14) with a payout of $10,000 to each team. Since then, the success of the bowl has poured millions of dollars into college athletics and has entertained millions of fans.
The sixth-oldest college bowl game, the TaxSlayer Bowl has provided Florida’s First Coast with a solid economic impact as well as exciting postseason football for more than 70 years.
The TaxSlayer Bowl is in the fifth year of partnership with TaxSlayer and has extended agreements with the Southeastern Conference, the Big Ten Conference, the Atlantic Coast Conference and ESPN. We are excited for the 71st installment of the timeless Jacksonville classic, the 2016 TaxSlayer Bowl.
